Bent Lamination Furniture

Bent lamination furniture. The thickness of the parts is largely determined by your bend. Titebond 3 tb3 has a longer open time than tb2 and yields a darker glue line when dry. When used as a structural element such as a table leg they are actually stronger than if the piece were cut from a single block of wood. Mdf is the material of choice for making forms because its edges can easily be shaped into smooth curves with a bandsaw and files or spokeshaves.

There is a correction to the lamination formula given in the video. Since bent lamination is used only for narrow parts such as drawer fronts table legs and aprons and chair parts the form can be fairly narrow. These window frames are bent laminations. Both are an excellent choice for bent lamination.
Shallow curves can be made up of fewer thicker laminations while tighter curves need more thin laminations. The table is made from ash. The curved doors on the end of the peninsula are laminated.
